Information for the Disabled

From the main car park, disabled visitors can access the main building via a purpose built ramp which leads down to a level area and into the main entrance.  The interior of the building which includes the garden centre shop arboretum entrance, gift shop and café, is all on one level. There is also a disabled toilet available here.
The Plant Sales area is accessible via a series of gently sloping paths, specifically designed to comply with disabled access regulations.

The arboretum is situated on a hill.  Approximately  25% of the area is accessible by manual wheelchair.  Electrically powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters may find the slopes easier to negotiate.  We have hard compacted gravel paths taking you around the arboretum with a main tarmac drive through the centre.

Electric Scooters

As from 1st February 2012 we can offer our visitors with walking difficulties greater access to the arboretum. ‘Trampers’ (electric scooters) are available subject to membership of the Countryside Mobility south West Scheme. PRE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL
