March

This is a glorious month in the arboretum.  As the snowdrops begin to fade, the daffodils take their place in a blaze of sunshine yellow.  Thousands and thousands of flowers cascade down the hillsides in torrents of gold.

Wild spring flowers also grace the arboretum including primroses and delicate violets.  Hellebores and crocus still abound and the first of the Japanese flowering cherry trees unfurl their exquisite blossoms.

We have a large collection of magnolia trees which also begin to adorn the arboretum with blooms large and small and of every shade of pink you can think of. One of our favourite early magnolias is ‘Caerhays Belle’ with its dinner plate sized pink blooms, one not to be missed.
