February

The arboretum begins to come to life with the delicate snowdrops crowding the roots of old oak trees and clinging to the grassy banks of the stream.  Clouds of white blooms made colourful by a scattering of bright yellow winter aconites and mauve crocus decorate the winter glades.

Hellebores and witch hazels of every hue surprise you as you wander along the twisting paths and now and then a sprinkling of cyclamen colour the dark soil under the trees. We even have some daffodils displaying, an early variety called ‘January Gold’.

Single and double snowdrops and winter aconites are for sale in the green at our garden centre along with bluebell and crocus bulbs.
